Assessment will be based on class attendance and ongoing Moodle tasks as well as a written exam and a short research paper.

Lernergebnisse

  • Describe and explain a country's pattern of trade using balance of payments terminology and common economic models of comparative advantage and imperfect competition.

  • Analyze the consequences of international economic integration, trade liberalization and protectionism using standard economic methods of welfare analysis; interpret world events related to international trade through the lens of appropriate economic models.

  • Be able to explain important issues related to the political economy of trade, including common arguments for and against trade liberalization, overall welfare implications and distributional effects of trade liberalization and protectionism, and the importance of trade imbalances on international macroeconomic performance.
