Studying part-time: Care information – an overview
Student parents can apply to study part-time. This means the deadlines specified in the course and examination regulations can be extended if required (Course and Examination Regulations Part A(5), 7 f). Naturally this also applies if you are obliged to care for relatives or if you have limitations due to a disability. It is our goal to provide the greatest possible flexibility for students with family responsibilities. An appropriate study plan should be created with the relevant program adviser and approved by the board of examiners. Required practical components of the degree course can also be done part-time, in cooperation with the responsible Internship Office.
You can de-register from your examinations if your child falls ill.
The same applies for those with care responsibilities and those with disabilities.
Information for student parents on parental leave can be found in the guidelines (the document is only available on the THU intranet).

Students may apply to take a sabbatical, if, for example, they are unable to attend classes due to the impending birth of a child and subsequently caring for a newborn baby.
