Before arriving in Germany, you must do the following:
- Apply for a visa, if necessary
- Set up a blocked account (Sperrkonto) to prove your financial stability, if necessary
You should also contact the THU International Office well in advance. They will give you information about orientation events and our buddy program. As well as helping you meet people and to get settled in, these offers also support you in the completion of important formalities.
This means you won't have to do the following things on your own after your arrival:
- Register with the city administration (Bürgerservice) within the first 14 days of arrival
- Apply for a residence permit, if necessary
- Open a German bank account, if necessary
