University sports
- Ulm University offers sports courses for students at Ulm University, Ulm University of Applied Sciences and Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences. Register online at the beginning of the semester. Registration is valid for one semester and you must pay a small participation fee.
- “UNIfit” gym: An inexpensive and well-equipped gym (UNIfit: 025, level 1).
- Sailing courses: In cooperation with USCU, the university sailing club. These include theory sessions at the university and practice sessions on Lake Constance during the summer semester.
Theater and Music
- Theater Ulm (only in German): Offers a large repertoire of modern and classical plays as well as concerts, and ballet performances.
- Roxy (only in German): Offers a variety of cultural events (concerts, theater, cabaret, parties).
- Theater Neu-Ulm (only in German): Students receive tickets at a reduced price of € 3. Students receive a 50% discount on remaining tickets 15 minutes before the performance begins.
- Theaterei (only in German) in Herrlingen and Theaterei Zelt.

Cinemas
Cinemas in Ulm usually show films in German, but sometimes films are also shown in other languages or with subtitles. In all cinemas, you must show your student ID (and sometimes also your identity card/passport) to receive a student discount.

SoNaFe
The
SommerNachtsFest (only in German) takes place every summer semester and offers a wonderful open-air atmosphere in the inner courtyard of University West with live bands, DJs and more.
Ulmer Zelt
From the end of May to the beginning of July, renowned artists from all over the world perform in a large tent in the Friedrichsau. There are concerts, theater, and cabaret performances. A large beer garden is set up around the
Ulmer Zelt (only in German) . Students receive a discount on
Ulmer Zelt tickets.
The International Danube Festival
The
Danube Festival is held on the banks of the Danube in Ulm/Neu-Ulm, every two years from the beginning to the middle of July. Over ten days, the marketplace of different cultures offers an international cultural program with music, dance, literature, and exhibitions. The Danube countries present themselves and their lifestyles with authentic handicrafts, traditional music, and culinary specialties.
Schwörwoche (Oath
week)
Schwörwoche (only in German) is the biggest festival in Ulm. At the end of July, the city celebrates itself for a whole week. Highlights include the Serenade of Lights, with 5,000 candles floating down the Danube, and the
Nabada, a carnival parade on the Danube. Many stores and public authorities are closed in the afternoon on
Schwörmontag (Oath Monday).

- Friedrichsau: A large park on the banks of the Danube (stop “Donauhalle”, line 1), with a small zoo (the “Aquarium”), small lakes and many beer gardens. Many Ulm events take place here (e.g. Ulmer Zelt, Ulmer Volksfest).
- Ulm University Botanical Gardens: With greenhouse, medicinal herb garden and beer garden.
- Glacis: Beautiful park in Neu-Ulm with lakes, playgrounds, a beer garden and a stage with many events in summer.

- Baggerseen: Free swimming lakes near Ulm, e.g. Pfuhler See (Neu-Ulm Pfuhl), Ludwigsfelder See (Neu-Ulm Ludwigsfeld), and Waldsee (Senden). The lakes are easiest to reach by bike or car.
Excursion destinations
- Blaubeuren (only in German): A small town about 20 km west of Ulm. It is home to the “Blautopf” (Germany's most famous karst spring) and a medieval monastery.
- Wiblingen Monastery: Former Benedictine abbey with a baroque library.
- Swabian Alb: Beautiful landscapes, caves, castles and palaces.
- Lake Constance (only in German): Germany's largest lake, which can be reached from Ulm in an hour by train/car.
- Allgäu Alps (only in German): Excellent ski resorts and fantastic
hiking opportunities, just an hour away from Ulm.
