The WiMINT-AG is a collaborative project between the University of Ulm (THU) and a school in the Ulm area, aimed at easing the transition from school to university and thus helping students get off to a good start in their studies. In addition to the WiMINT-AG for mathematics, there is also one for physics.
It offers pupils the opportunity to take part in supplementary courses in mathematics and physics to make up for any gaps in their knowledge before they start their degree. In addition, advisory and orientation workshops are offered, and direct contact is established with the university and its students.
Detailed information about the WiMINT-AG Mathematics at the Ferdinand-von-Steinbeis-Schule Ulm for the BKFH class can be found on the WiMINT-AG Mathematics poster and in the WiMINT-AG Mathematics flyer.
Since the 2019/20 school year, a WiMINT-AG Mathematics has been held there. For the kick-off event in the 2019/20 school year, a report on 25.09.2019 in the Südwestpresse! In the 2021/22 school year, the Ferdinand-von-Steinbeis-Schule once again offered a WiMINT-AG in mathematics for the BKFH class.
There has also been a WiMINT-AG Mathematics at the Gewerbliche Schule Ehingen since the 2020/21 school year. The first block took place in November and December. The second followed in the spring before the final exams of the BKFH class. Further information can be found on the poster about it!
At the Friedrich-List-Schule Ulm, the WiMINT-AG Mathematics started in October 2020 for the first time for the BK I with the first block. The second block of the AG is for BK II students and is expected to take place for the first time in spring 2021. You can find out more on the poster about the WiMINT mathematics club at Friedrich-List-Schule.
In the 2022/23 school year, new clubs were launched at Ferdinand-von-Steinbeis-Schule Ulm, Gewerbliche Schule Ehingen and Friedrich-List-Schule Ulm. Two new features were introduced. At the Ferdinand-von-Steinbeis-Schule Ulm, the traditional WiMINT-AG mathematics was supplemented by topics from the physics WiMINT-AG. At the Friedrich-List-Schule Ulm, the WG in the two-year BK was extended to both years with more dates in order to minimize the burden on the students.
In the 2023/24 school year, there are WiMINT-AGs at the Ferdinand-von-Steinbeis-Schule Ulm, the Gewerbliche Schule Ehingen, the Friedrich-List-Schule Ulm and the Valckenburg Schule in Ulm.
In the 2024/2025 school year, WIMINT-AG also took place at Ferdinand-von-Steinbeis-Schule, Friedrich-List-Schule and Valckenburgschule.
A sound grounding in physics is also essential for most STEM degree courses. The amount of physics taught in the final years of school to prospective students, as well as the topics covered in class, varies greatly. For example, pupils often arrive at universities with less sound knowledge, especially in mechanics. The WiMINT-AG Physics is intended to provide support before the start of studies in order to close such gaps and make it easier for students to start their studies.
The content of the working group is based on the draft of the minimum requirements catalog for physics. The event took place for the first time in the 2020/21 school year as a pilot project. Pupils from the Friedrich-List-Schule Ulm were given the opportunity to prepare themselves well for a WiMINT degree course in two blocks. You can find the concept on the poster and on the flyer! In the 2021/22 school year, the WiMINT-AG Physics went into its second round. In the school year 2022/23 another WiMINT-AG Physics started.
A WiMINT-AG Physics also took place at the school in the 2024/2025 school year.
