Information on teaching at THU

Before accepting a teaching position, please note the following:

  • Your academic qualifications and professional experience must be relevant to the respective field of instruction. The responsible faculty will conduct a personal interview for this purpose.
  • Lectureships are awarded for one semester at a time and are concluded exclusively in writing. However, the THU strives for long-term collaboration with qualified lecturers.
  • Civil servants and employees under collective bargaining agreements may not accept a teaching position at their own university.
  • Courses are conducted independently and are based on the THU’s study and examination regulations as well as the module descriptions.
  • The content, scope, time, and location of the courses are determined in consultation with the relevant faculty. Preferred dates will be accommodated whenever possible.
  • Lecturers are bound by confidentiality and must adhere to the THU’s guidelines on information security. Communication with students takes place exclusively through the THU’s services.
  • THU supports lecturers with professional development opportunities and programs for teaching quality assurance.
  • Payment is made upon completion of the teaching assignment based on a standardized billing form.

The amount of remuneration depends on the respective qualification of the lecturer:

  • 40.00 per individual lesson (45 minutes) for lecturers with the duties of professors and a university degree
  • 27.00 per individual hour (45 minutes) for lecturers with the tasks of a teacher for special tasks and corresponding qualifications
