Ulm, a city of science, is a major centre for energy research and energy technology. That is why the University of Ulm, Ulm University of Applied Sciences and the Centre for Solar Energy and Hydrogen Research Baden-Württemberg (ZSW) – all strong partners – have joined forces to form the Centre for Energy Research and Technology (ZET).
Together, the researchers at ZET aim to investigate and implement various energy-related topics—ranging from smart grids and battery systems to synthetic fuels—from the fundamentals all the way to practical applications.
The founding members of ZET include 52 researchers from the three institutions with diverse disciplinary backgrounds. The disciplines represented range from electrochemistry and chemical engineering to energy technology. Through ZET, joint research and technology transfer projects are defined, external funding is secured, and the projects are implemented. Plans also include a graduate school, in addition to regular colloquia and professional exchange.
