Universities rely in particular on a strong sense of collegiality. Universities of Applied Sciences, such as THU, have a comparatively small mid-level academic staff. Involvement in academic self-governance therefore means actively participating in university processes—for example, by serving on committees and appointment boards, or by taking on roles such as program director, member of an examination board, or internship coordinator.
Our university sees itself as a campus-based institution, as we are convinced that on-site learning is particularly beneficial for students. For us, direct interaction is an essential part of the academic experience. Of course, we now also use appropriate online teaching formats when necessary. However, the THU’s character as a campus-based university is to be preserved.
In the spirit of fostering a positive collegial atmosphere, we at THU have decided that all our professors will be paid according to the W2 salary grade, with the corresponding opportunities for potential performance-based bonuses. Further information on compensation can be found here: Salary as a W2 Professor.
At THU, it is not possible to submit an unsolicited application for a professorship. You are welcome to subscribe to our job newsletter to be notified in a timely manner about advertised professorial positions.
