Ulm University of Technology’s strategy is focused on both strengthening and continuously developing research and knowledge transfer. Over the past ten years, the volume of external funding has tripled and the number of academic publications (including those subject to peer review) has risen steadily.

Initiating, applying for, and supporting research and technology transfer projects

In order to secure long-term and sustainable growth, the service-oriented Research Management department was founded in 2017 and continuously expanded. Together with partners from business, science and society, the university pursues the goal of developing innovations in its key research areas and making them usable. The staff unit bundles and coordinates the interests of the various stakeholders and networks the innovation potential of the partners with the university.

Internally, the staff unit is the central point of contact for professors with questions on funding programs, industry cooperation and all topics relating to research and transfer.

Consulting for national projects

The Research and Innovation Management unit supports:
  • in setting up pre-competitive innovation partnerships to identify research issues,
  • in research partnerships in public projects at state and federal level,
  • in industrial collaborations and contract research,
  • with transfer and consulting services as well as in the development and establishment of new transfer formats, especially for SMEs,
  • by participating in research networks, committees and associations,
  • by providing information and transferring knowledge, especially to society.
