The taster course offers pupils from Year 10 the unique opportunity to attend regular lectures alongside university students, thereby gaining an insight into everyday student life at the THU.
The taster lectures take place during the semester. It is therefore completely normal if you don't understand all the content straight away. It is much more important that you get an impression of how lectures are held at the university, how lecturers teach the material and what topics await you during your studies.
Take the opportunity to get to know different lectures, degree programs and departments. This will give you a better feel for which subjects and fields of study match your interests. Laboratory events and institute tours are also particularly exciting, where you can take a look behind the scenes at Ulm University of Applied Sciences and sometimes even get involved yourself.
As these are regular courses, you should be on campus around 15 minutes before they start if possible. This will give you enough time to get your bearings, find the right lecture hall or visit the information stand if you have any questions.
In the cafeterias of the Studierendenwerk Ulm you can only pay for food and drinks without cash. Many students also bring their own water bottle and a small snack.
If you have questions about studying, everyday university life or specific degree courses, use the breaks or the time after the events to talk to students. This will give you authentic first-hand insights.
Ulm University of Applied Sciences has two campuses: the Albert-Einstein-Allee campus and the Prittwitzstraße campus. The journey by public transport between the two campuses takes around 30-40 minutes. Plan your visit accordingly if you would like to attend events at both campuses.
