Tuition fees for international students at universities in Baden-Württemberg are 1,500.00 EUR per semester. International students are students who are not citizens of a member state of the European Union or another signatory state to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Those who hold a German university entrance qualification are not required to pay international tuition fees.
Exceptions to the tuition fee requirement for international students are governed by the State Higher Education Tuition Fee Act. In most cases, this depends on the type of residence permit.

If an exception applies to you, please fill out the form and send it to us along with the relevant supporting documents. An exemption from tuition fees for international students can only be determined once you have submitted the information form and all necessary supporting documents.
Tuition fees for a second degree program are 650.00 EUR per semester. These fees apply to a second or subsequent bachelor’s degree program or a second or subsequent degree program in a consecutive master’s program. A second degree program is considered such only if the preceding Bachelor’s or Master’s degree was completed in Germany.

The tuition waiver for international students or for a second degree program must be applied for before the start of the lecture period . Waivers are granted, in particular, during a leave of absence or internship semester. Please note that the exemption applies only to tuition fees. This means that you must always pay the semester fees, even during a leave of absence or internship semester.
Tuition, the administrative fee, and the student government ( VS)fee will be refunded upon request if you withdraw from your program or de-enroll within one month after the start of classes.
The one-time service fee and late payment fees are non-refundable.
A separate application must be submitted to request a refund of the Student Services fee. Please check the Studierendenwerk website linked below for the deadlines and use the form provided there to request a refund of the Studierendenwerk fee.
