At cosh on-site afternoons, schoolteachers meet with university lecturers to network and discuss current issues relating to the transition from school to university. The afternoon programme usually consists of lectures and workshops on current topics, as well as tours and guided visits to collections or laboratories. Where possible, the cosh on-site afternoons take place once or twice a year at different schools or at Ulm University of Technology. Teachers of science subjects at schools, as well as university lecturers in science disciplines, are invited to attend.

The cosh-vor-Ort afternoon will probably take place at the end of the summer semester, information can be found on this website or at the THU events.
On Tuesday, July 8, 2025, the 7th cosh on-site afternoon took place at Ulm University of Applied Sciences, this time with the new title Campus meets Classroom. Under the motto "AI in STEM teaching", teachers from schools, colleges and universities, representatives of the Employment Agency, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce and the cosh regional team came together. In addition to the program with exciting presentations, the meeting was intended to provide a platform for exchange.

On Wednesday, 19.06.2024, the Robert-Bosch-Schule Ulm and the AG cosh at the THU organized the 6th cosh-vor-Ort afternoon under the motto: Physics - New educational plans & support offers.
Siegfried Gmeiner from the List-Schule kicked off the event with a presentation on the new educational plans for physics at vocational schools. Gmeiner outlined the different approaches and objectives of the Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs, focusing in particular on the teaching of skills and the brand essence, the reference to reality. Other important points were the adaptation to the curriculum of general secondary schools, the use of new media, the heterogeneity of the student body and the optimization of the transition to vocational secondary schools.
After an informative tour of the physics collection, the well-equipped electrical engineering laboratory and a learning production line at the school, Anna Stöcken presented the Online Bridge Course Physics (OBKP). As an online course for the repetition and consolidation of various physics topics, it is freely available on the Internet, but can also be integrated into your own learning management systems such as Ilyas and Moodle. After the presentation, the course could be tried out independently.
The final presentation was given by Kim Fujan and Manuela Boin on the WiMINT AGs. The focus was on the course of the working groups, the content structure and the implementation in a school. In addition, experience gained in the five current WiMINT AGs at THU was shared.
We would like to thank the Robert Bosch School Ulm for their participation, organization and support.

Strategies for solving complex problems are useful in a wide range of activities, but they play a particularly important role in STEM subjects. From 2024, there will therefore be a problem-solving task that students can choose in the mathematics A-levels at vocational high schools. On 28.6.2023, 28 teachers from schools and universities in the Ulm/Neu-Ulm/Biberach region met for the 5th cosh-vor-Ort afternoon at THU, this time on the topic of "Problem solving: Task(s) in schools and universities". Ideas were exchanged on how schools and universities could work together to develop problem-solving skills.
In a keynote speech, Achim Boger (AG cosh and mathematics advisor) presented the new type of task and the intention behind it. Johannes Som (IBL of the logistics laboratory at THU) presented a project idea: Pupils come to THU for an afternoon to work on a logistics problem in several small groups and find good solutions using various strategies and resources. Teachers at THU take the opposite approach in the "Science in the Classroom" project presented by Prof. Hubert Mantz and Prof. Kathrin Stucke-Straub: Here, the classroom becomes a lecture hall to get students excited about STEM subjects. With both types of project, we hope that a whole portfolio of topics will be created in the future, from which teachers can choose the right workshop for their classes.
In between, there was time for informal discussions during the lab tour and coffee break, to make contacts and perhaps also to initiate future collaborations between schools and universities in the region.
On October 4, 2021, the 4th cosh-vor-Ort afternoon took place at THU. The pandemic situation allowed for a face-to-face event with 20 people who exchanged views on the topic "Corona gaps in mathematics/physics - where are they and what can we do about them?".
You can find the second newsletter on the cosh on-site activities from March 2021 here!
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the 3rd cosh on-site afternoon in July 2020 could not take place in person at the Friedrich List School as planned. Instead, a first newsletter informed all interested parties about the cosh activities in the months of March to July 2020. You can find it here. In addition, a cosh on-site webinar took place on 16.10.2020. The topic was the minimum requirements catalog for physics, which was presented by Prof. Dr. Hanno Käß (Esslingen University of Applied Sciences) and StR'in Kim Fujan (GBS Ehingen). In an online discussion, ideas for implementing MiAnKa physics in schools were then developed together with the participants.
The 2nd cosh-vor-Ort afternoon took place on February 3, 2020.
You can find the invitation to the 2nd cosh-vor-Ort afternoon here.
On July 03, 2019, the first cosh on-site afternoon took place at THU.
