Preliminary courses, Faculty of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering

The preparatory course run by the Faculty of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering at Ulm University of Applied Sciences helps you get off to a successful start in your degree programme.  The course helps you make the transition from school or work to university easier, brush up on important basics and familiarise yourself with everyday university life at an early stage. This will enable you to start your degree with greater confidence and a solid foundation.

General information

The Faculty of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering offers a preliminary course for the Mechanical Engineering and Automotive Engineering degree programs to facilitate the transition from school or work to university. We are pleased to be able to offer you a pre-course in presence this semester.

Participation in the pre-course is voluntary. It does not count towards the pre-study internship.

How can I take part in the preliminary course?

What happens after registration?

If you are already enrolled and have a university account, you can log in with your access data at Moodle course enroll. Here you can prepare for your studies independently, especially with regard to the infrastructure at the university.

Contents

What topics are covered?

  • Campus life (timetable, maps, semester ticket, canteen, library, ...)
  • Infrastructure (university account, printer account, VPN, WLan, directories, ...)
  • Contact persons and help (SSC, secretariats, deans of studies, internship office, examination office, ...)
  • Learning aids of the IHD (general conditions, learning types, self-organization, learning strategies, exam anxiety, ...)
  • ... and because that's quite a lot, we're also holding a creative competition. There's something to win!

And what about math?

  • There will be math courses and math tutorials during the preliminary course.
  • If you wish, you can start working on (school) math now.
  • You will find theoretical basics, exercises and sample solutions in the following script. After the foreword, it is a good idea to start with the arithmetic test (1st exercise) after the preface. Pre-course mathematics script or Mathematics Preparatory Course
