Here you’ll find important information about the structure of your degree programme. If you’re familiar with the key details, you’ll be well placed to organise your studies effectively from the start and approach them with confidence.
And don’t forget: always keep an eye on your university email account – that way, you won’t miss any important notifications, letters or information about your studies!
The student portal SELMA is very important for the organization and running of your studies. There you can, for example, retrieve study certificates, apply for re-registration, leave of absence or de-registration or edit personal data. You can also register for courses and examinations in the student portal.
Important: The portal can only be accessed via the university network. If you want to access it from outside, you will need a VPN connection. You can find help on setting up a VPN connection here.
As a registered student, you can find further information and instructions for the student portal on the THU intranet.
You must register for all courses (including compulsory courses!) and examinations yourself in the SELMA student portal. You can find more information and instructions in the SELMA Moodle course.
If you would like to continue your studies at THU in the next semester, you must re-register by the deadline. You can do this in the student portal SELMA by submitting the re-registration application and transferring the semester fees and, if applicable, tuition fees .
All students will receive an email with all relevant information on re-registration in good time at the start of the re-registration period. It is therefore important that you check your THU e-mail account regularly.
Information on semester fees and tuition fees can be found here:
The study and examination regulations (SPO) regulate the structure of your studies and all important examination conditions. It is worth familiarizing yourself with them early on. You can find all relevant statutes and regulations online, and further information as a registered student on the intranet.
Certain life circumstances demand a lot of time. It can then be helpful if you can stretch your studies over a longer period of time. This makes it possible to study part-time.
Individual part-time does not mean that there is a special part-time degree course, but that we look at each individual case to see how you can organize your part-time studies. You can find more information on this in the FAQs on studying part-time.
You can apply for a leave of absence or de-registration in the SELMA student portal. You can find further applications and forms in the following overview:
