Are you fascinated by engineering and keen to develop innovative products and machines using modern technologies? On the Bachelor’s degree programme in Mechanical Engineering at Ulm University of Applied Sciences (THU), you will learn to design sophisticated technical solutions. This includes design, construction, manufacturing and quality assurance, as well as the simulation of exciting real-world applications. Whether it’s plant for the food industry, the chemical industry or environmental protection, aircraft engines or assembly lines for the automotive and household appliance industries, large ships or even tiny machines for medical technology: Start your mechanical engineering degree and design sought-after products and solutions that meet ecological and economic standards for today and tomorrow.

The Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering lasts seven semesters and opens up a broad field of application based on a universal engineering education. The course focuses on methods and techniques for the development and design of machines based on CAD technologies and modern calculation methods.
Mechanical engineering is one of the oldest engineering disciplines. Over the past two centuries, this field has developed from a purely mechanical discipline into a central engineering science that is closely linked to other disciplines.
The Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering lasts seven semesters and is divided into foundation and advanced studies. In the foundation course, which comprises all modules up to the end of the second semester of the curriculum, you will study subjects such as mathematics, physics, materials science, skills theory, CAD, design theory and manufacturing processes. In the main course of study, you can choose from the specializations "Automation and Digitalization", "Production", "Design and Development" and "General Mechanical Engineering".
To study mechanical engineering, you will need an entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences, a subject-specific higher education entrance qualification, a general higher education entrance qualification or a comparable qualification. You must also provide proof of an eight-week pre-study internship. If you have not yet completed the pre-study internship at the time of application, you can still apply and complete it by the start of the 4th semester. If you already have relevant vocational training or school-based practical experience in the field of metal technology, the pre-study work placement can be recognized in full or in part. An interest in technology and a good understanding of mathematical and scientific contexts are required for a successful course of study.
Upon successful completion of the Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering, you will receive the academic degree Bachelor of Engineering (B. Eng.). As a mechanical engineer, you will develop and design innovative products and ensure economical and efficient manufacturing processes. Possible fields of activity range from design and development, production, research and quality assurance to sales, service or corporate planning. As mechanical engineering is one of the most important and innovative industrial sectors in Germany, you will benefit from excellent career prospects. Qualified specialists are urgently needed in many companies. This offers you attractive career opportunities in a future-oriented job market.
