Bodies & Committees

The governing bodies and committees of our university shape the institution’s strategic, academic and organisational development. They ensure transparent decision-making and guarantee that the interests of all members of the university community are taken into account. Together, they establish the framework for study, teaching, research and administration.

Led by President Prof. Dr. Volker Reuter, the Office of the President, together with the vice-presidents’ offices, guides the university’s strategic development. Administrative and financial management is the responsibility of Chancellor Dr. Christian Elmo Wolff (focus areas include administrative digitization and university staff Prof 4.0).

The University Council supports the university, assumes responsibility for strategic matters, makes decisions regarding structural and development planning, proposes measures designed to enhance the university’s profile and improve its performance and competitiveness, and oversees the administration of the Rector’s Office.

The Senate is one of the university’s key academic decision-making bodies. It addresses fundamental issues related to student affairs, teaching, research, and academic self-governance. Representatives from various groups within the university work together on the Senate and play an active role in shaping the university’s future development.

Self-governance & Advocacy

The faculty councils oversee academic self-governance within the faculties. They make decisions on subject-specific matters, adopt academic regulations, and work to further develop teaching in a targeted manner.

The Student Council represents students' academic and social interests. It brings together student concerns, supports initiatives, and plays an active role in shaping the learning environment on campus.

The Staff Council represents the legal and social interests of all employees at THU. The council ensures compliance with laws and collective bargaining agreements and participates in personnel decisions.
