The Faculty of Computer Science (I) specifically equips students for the digital workplace of tomorrow. Computer science drives innovation across almost every sector and opens up a wide range of career opportunities. Our degree programmes impart sound technical and methodological skills and foster teamwork and interdisciplinary thinking in a personal, friendly learning environment.
Close cooperation with companies ensures a practical focus, whilst international partnerships strengthen global exchange. Students benefit from current research projects in areas such as artificial intelligence, data science, robotics and medical informatics. Particularly at Master’s level, projects and dissertations provide a direct entry into research and lay the foundation for further academic careers.
Our degree programmes integrate practical project formats such as entry-level, software and team projects as well as specialized project work in data science, medical informatics and information systems. In these courses, students work on challenging tasks from their specialist area in a team. They deepen their knowledge in a targeted manner, apply methods to real-world problems and combine content from different modules. At the same time, they independently explore new topics that are required for the solution, thus strengthening their technical and methodological skills for practical application.
The faculty attaches particular importance to offering a diverse and attractive range of courses for international students and to promoting global experience. These include a Bachelor's degree course inComputer Sciencetaught entirely in English with integrated German language support, the international exchange program "Computer Science - International Program" with an academic year in the USA, the three-month "International Computer Engineering Program" (ICEP) and the English-language Master's degree course "Intelligent Systems".
The Faculty of Computer Science is involved in setting up the Faculty of Computer Science at the German International University in Cairo. There are plans for a reciprocal exchange of students and lecturers between Germany and Egypt as well as joint research projects with Ulm University of Applied Sciences.
The Institute of Computer Science (IFI) provides the technical and personnel infrastructure for scientifically sound and practice-oriented education as well as for research activities in the field of computer science.
