Frequently asked questions about using the library

Students at Ulm University of Applied Sciences are registered at the library by virtue of their enrollment. The student card is also the library card.
Other members of the university present their university ID card to register, external students present their identity card.
The registration fee for external students is a one-off fee of EUR 15. Students from other universities and school pupils are exempt from this fee if they present a current certificate of enrollment/school ID.

We mainly have specialist books and journals in the fields of computer science and engineering. We also have documentary films on DVD and a few daily newspapers. We offer access to literature databases, eBooks and eJournals via campus licenses. Our media are listed in the library catalog.

The THU Library is responsible for supplying literature for study, teaching and research at THU. The range of subjects taught at THU is reflected in the content of the media available in the THU Library: Mathematics, Natural and Economic Sciences, Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, Computer Science, Production Engineering and Production Management, Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics, Physiotherapy and Medical Technology. In addition, media are offered for teaching core scientific skills, foreign languages and general education. There is also a collection of literature and DVDs on the subject of Fair Trade University and sustainability as well as books on the institutional history of the THU and on the city of Ulm and the surrounding region.

The loan period for books is usually four weeks, for periodicals, data carriers and items from the "Library of Things" two weeks. It can be extended several times if there are no reservations. Weekend loans are usually possible for reference books.

All eBooks and eJournals licensed by us are listed and linked in the library catalog. They are directly accessible on the university campus.

All of our licensed and numerous free literature databases are accessible via the DBIS portal. Licensed databases can only be used within the university network.
