Key areas of research

With its research priorities in digital technologies and artificial intelligence, engineering and modern mobility, sustainable energy systems and energy management, and technology in health and medicine, Ulm University of Applied Sciences aligns itself with the key areas of future technologies in federal and state policy.

A total of 24 research areas are assigned to these four research priorities.

Interdisciplinary and Cross-Departmental Projects

Alongside high-quality teaching and continuing education, applied research is one of the core missions of THU. Through its research activities, the university makes a significant contribution to the technical, environmental, and—by extension—social development of the Ulm region and the state of Baden-Württemberg. The university’s researchers use their expertise to drive projects forward in collaboration with partners from industry and academia and are actively involved in the individual research areas at THU.

In addition, numerous interdisciplinary and cross-departmental projects have been implemented at THU in recent years, mostly as collaborative projects with regional and national partners. These include not only research-based transfer projects but also projects in the areas of startup support and recruitment.
