Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) - In depth practical training

Work-Study Programme in Electrical Engineering & Information Technology

The dual degree programme in Electrical Engineering & Information Technology with an in-depth practical focus at Ulm University of Applied Sciences (THU) combines modern engineering with practical experience in a company and offers you the opportunity to study in English. If you’re interested in electronics and intelligent systems and would like to work on real-world projects whilst you’re still studying, this degree programme offers the ideal blend of theory and practice.

During your studies, you will explore topics such as electronics, automation technology, communications technology, programming and energy technology. During the practical phases, you will work directly within companies, assisting with the development of electronic systems, programming hardware and software components, or contributing to automation and energy projects.

This allows you to gain practical experience early on and prepare specifically for your career entry in an international environment.

Procedure

Electrical Engineering & Information Technology - Advanced Practice

You can begin the Electrical Engineering & Information Technology program with an in-depth practical component in either the winter or summer semester. If you have already signed your contract before the start of the program, you’ll first get to know your company during a brief orientation period of two to four weeks. Afterward, your studies will begin immediately at the university with the first lectures.

As the program progresses, theoretical and practical phases alternate: During lecture and exam periods, you’ll study at THU; during breaks from classes, you’ll gain valuable practical experience at the company. The program lasts a total of seven semesters and includes two semesters of foundational studies (basics in mathematics, natural sciences, and electrical engineering), four semesters of required modules and elective specialization modules, and one practical semester. Practice-oriented labs with state-of-the-art measurement and laboratory equipment are an integral part of all phases of the program. You’ll complete your internship semester and your bachelor’s thesis directly at your partner company.
