Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) - In depth practical training, The Ulm Model

Work-study programme in food technology

The dual degree programme in Food Technology at Ulm University of Applied Sciences (THU) combines knowledge of food production and process engineering with practical experience in a company. If you are interested in food production and sustainable production processes, this programme offers you the opportunity to directly combine theory and practice.

During your studies, you will explore the physical, chemical and biological processes involved in food processing, as well as topics such as quality management and process engineering. During the practical phases, you will work in companies within the food industry, overseeing production and quality processes, carrying out analyses and tests, or assisting with the optimisation of production facilities and recipes.

The programme can be completed as a dual study programme with an in-depth practical component or following the Ulm model. The Ulm model also includes recognised vocational training, for example as a mechatronics engineer.

Food Technology - Advanced Practice

The degree course with in-depth practical automotive engineering starts in the winter semester. If you have already signed your contract before the start of your studies, you will first get to know your company during a short introductory phase of two to four weeks. Your studies will then begin directly at the university with the first lectures.

You will then alternate between theoretical and practical phases: You will study at THU during the lecture and examination periods, and gain valuable practical experience at the company during the lecture-free periods. You will also complete your practical semester and your Bachelor's thesis directly at your partner company.
