The combination of academic teaching and practical project work is regarded as a key feature of German universities of applied sciences. This educational model is being adopted by the German International University (GIU) in Cairo.
Ulm University of Applied Sciences (THU), together with other German universities, is supporting the establishment of GIU in Cairo. The aim is to establish a range of degree programmes based on the German model.
GIU began teaching in 2020 and is implementing the concept of practice-oriented higher education.
