Within the period specified by the practical semester, 100 attendance days must be completed in the training company. Jobs in the following areas of digital media design and development are possible:
During the course, the student should test his/her skills on tasks to be worked on independently under the qualified supervision of a specialist. In addition, he/she should also be given the opportunity to gain an insight into related areas of work as well as areas upstream and downstream of the internship activity within the respective production process.
The student is supervised by a professor during the practical semester. Students must send a short report (2-3 DIN A4 pages) by email to Prof. Thomas Hofmann or directly to the supervisor, if the supervisor has already been assigned, after one month of the practical semester. The report must include a contact address (e.g. email, telephone, etc.) at the employer and the name of the local supervisor.
At the end of the training, the company issues a work placement certificate. This certificate confirms the training period and absences as well as the departments or training content completed. It therefore does not constitute an employer's reference! It is advisable to use the prepared form for this purpose. The certificate must be submitted together with the work report to the responsible university supervisor.
The contents of the practical semester must be documented in a work report. This report can - depending on the activity - be limited to the description of the solution of a single problem or also deal with several problems. It should comprise at least 20 pages with 2500 characters per page and use diagrams, graphics and images in addition to the text section to illustrate the facts described. The structure, layout, spelling and external form of the report must meet the requirements for students in the 6th semester of Digital Media.
At the end of the course, the student must submit the report to the practice location for acknowledgement and countersignature.
On the Monday of the first week of the new semester, each student reports to the supervising lecturer in a presentation (lasting 20 minutes) on his/her work during the practical semester and presents selected work results. The time and place will be announced on the notice board and on the department's homepage.
The supervising professor decides on the recognition of the practical semester. Recognition is a prerequisite for admission to some subjects of the 6th semester.
