The thesis is a course requirement that must be completed in the 7th semester. The thesis is supervised and graded by a professor at Ulm University of Applied Sciences.
The topic of the thesis should cover the three pillars of multimedia information design and processing: content, technology, and design. The three areas may be weighted differently.
The final thesis must be submitted in digital form on a CD-ROM or DVD. To document the thesis, a written report (30 to 50 pages plus appendix) must be prepared, which, like the CD-ROM or DVD, remains with the supervising professor.
The cover page of the written report must contain the following information:

In the 6th semester, students must register the topic of their thesis with the Faculty Office in consultation with the supervising professor using the form "Registration of theses (Bachelor's/Master's theses)". To ensure a smooth registration process, the following deadlines should be observed: January 30 for a thesis in the summer semester and July 15 for a thesis in the winter semester.
The written thesis and the technical realization (CD-ROM and / or DVD) must be submitted by the deadline specified on the registration form either to the supervisor (professor), the Faculty Secretariat, the Student Service Center (SSC) or, as an alternative to the Faculty Secretariat, to Jochen Herrmann at the Abert-Einstein-Allee location together with the form "Submission of theses (Bachelor's / Master's theses)". Submission on a USB stick is not permitted. The date of the presentation can be found in the examination schedule.
The thesis must contain the following declaration: "I hereby declare that I have written the thesis independently and only with the sources and aids indicated. Furthermore, I declare that the thesis has not been published elsewhere or submitted as examination work in another subject. The supervising lecturer(s) is/are: NN."
For theses completed at a company or other institution outside of Ulm University, the supervising entity must submit a written assignment description (approximately one A4 page) that specifies the following points:
The grading is the responsibility of the two evaluators. It is based on their professional assessment of the interim reports, the presentation, and the written report, as well as, if applicable, on the assessment provided by the supervisor at the relevant company (in the case of an external project). To this end, the company is required to send an evaluation directly to the primary examiner by the deadline for submission of the written paper, which must address at least the following points:
Research and in-depth understanding of the subject area
