Farewell to Reiner Heinzelmann
It is with great sadness that the Faculties of ‘Electrical Engineering and Information Technology’ and ‘Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Economics’ at Ulm University of Applied Sciences bid farewell to their long-standing lecturer, Reiner Heinzelmann.
For many years – longer than almost any other colleague – he was a defining figure at our university. With exceptional dedication, a high level of professional expertise and great reliability, he worked tirelessly on behalf of his faculties and played a key role in shaping academic life.
As a teacher, Reiner Heinzelmann was outstanding. His lectures were characterised by clarity, practical relevance and enthusiasm for his subject. Generations of students benefited from his experience, his patience and his willingness to always lend an ear to their concerns. His door was always open – for academic questions as well as for personal conversations.
He was also held in high regard amongst his colleagues. With his friendly, approachable and helpful manner, he was a valued point of contact and a reliable companion. His advice was sought after, and his support taken for granted. For many, he was not just a colleague, but a friend.
With the passing of Reiner Heinzelmann, the university has lost a dedicated lecturer and we have all lost a special person. His work, his humanity and his collegial spirit will be remembered with gratitude.
