Research

During my time as a research assistant at the Technical University of Munich, I conducted research into model order reduction using Krylov subspace methods, which can be used to efficiently simplify even very large models to a manageable level of complexity. I published the key results (including the derivation of rigorous error bounds and methods for automating the process) in my doctoral thesis.

At the Technical University of Hanover (THU), my main interest lies in the modelling, simulation and control of physiological and medical technology systems.

Activities and interests

  • Control and automation engineering, IEC 61131-3 and CODESYS, MATLAB/Simulink
  • LT1.org – Diabetes simulation in a web browser
  • Ventilation technology in regions with poor medical infrastructure, in particular energy-efficient oxygen concentrators
  • The Glass Lung: An electromechanical lung simulator
